Privacy Policy
Template notice. This Privacy Policy is a general, industry-standard template provided for convenience. It is not legal advice. Please review and adapt it with qualified legal counsel — and confirm it reflects your actual data practices and the requirements of the app stores you publish to — before relying on it.
Play Stream Studio ("Play Stream Studio", "we", "us" or "our") makes and publishes streaming, gaming and media applications for smart TVs, phones, tablets and the web (each, an "App", and together with this website, our "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using our Services you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: information you give us, information collected automatically when you use our Apps, and information we receive from third parties such as app stores and advertising partners.
Information you provide
- Account & profile data — such as your name, email address, password, country, profile preferences and any avatar or display name you choose.
- Purchases — subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by the relevant app store (Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon). We receive confirmation of the transaction but do not receive or store your full payment card number.
- Support & communications — messages, feedback, survey responses and attachments you send when you contact us.
Information collected automatically
- Device & app information — device model, operating system and version, app version, language, time zone, screen type (e.g. mobile or TV) and similar technical attributes.
- Identifiers — app-instance identifiers and, where permitted, advertising identifiers (such as Apple's IDFA, Google's Advertising ID, Roku Advertising Identifier or Amazon Fire TV Advertising ID).
- Usage & viewing activity — content you browse, play, search for or add to lists, playback events, features used and interaction patterns, used to power "continue watching", recommendations and product improvement.
- Log & diagnostic data — IP address, crash reports, performance metrics and event logs.
- Approximate location — derived from IP address for content availability, regional pricing and fraud prevention. We collect precise GPS location only with your explicit permission.
- Cookies & SDKs — on our website and within Apps we use cookies and software development kits (SDKs) for analytics, measurement and (where applicable) advertising.
Information from third parties
- App stores & platforms — subscription status, entitlements and limited account data from the store you downloaded the App from.
- Sign-in providers — if you choose to sign in with a third-party account, we receive basic profile information permitted by that provider.
- Analytics & advertising partners — aggregated or pseudonymous measurement and attribution data.
2. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide, operate, maintain and secure our Apps and your account;
- remember your place, sync activity across your devices and personalize content and recommendations;
- process subscriptions and in-app purchases and provide receipts and entitlements;
- understand how our Apps are used so we can fix bugs and improve performance and features;
- communicate with you about updates, security alerts, support and (with your consent where required) marketing;
- measure, and where applicable deliver, advertising; and
- detect, prevent and investigate fraud, abuse and violations of our terms, and comply with legal obligations.
Where required by law, we rely on legal bases including performance of a contract, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, and compliance with legal obligations.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers — vendors who host, support, analyze and secure our Services on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of the data.
- App stores & platform providers — Apple, Google, Roku and Amazon, in connection with distribution, billing and entitlements.
- Advertising & analytics partners — as described in section 4. Depending on your region, sharing identifiers for cross-context advertising may be considered a "sale" or "share" under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA; you can opt out as described in section 5.
- Legal & safety — when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety and property of our users, Play Stream Studio or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
- With your consent — for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time.
4. Advertising & analytics
Some of our Apps are supported by advertising. We and our partners may use device and advertising identifiers and usage data to measure and (where applicable) personalize ads. On supported platforms, app tracking is requested through the operating system's permission prompt (for example, Apple's App Tracking Transparency).
You can limit ad personalization at any time using your device settings, for example:
- iOS / tvOS — Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and Apple Advertising.
- Android / Google TV — Settings → Google → Ads (reset or delete advertising ID).
- Roku — Settings → Privacy → Advertising → "Limit ad tracking".
- Fire TV — Settings → Preferences → Privacy Settings → Interest-based Ads.
5. Your choices & rights
You can review and update your profile in-app, manage notification and marketing preferences, and control device permissions (such as location) through your device settings. Subscriptions are managed through the app store you purchased from.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port or restrict your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to opt out of "sale"/"share" or targeted advertising (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA/CPRA). To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@playstreamstudio.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
6. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, then retain and use it only as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
Our Apps are intended for general audiences and are not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) except through clearly designated kids experiences that include a parental gate. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner inconsistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or other applicable laws. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
9. International data transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including the United States. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) as required by applicable law.
10. Third-party platforms & links
Our Apps are distributed through, and integrate with, third-party platforms including the Apple App Store, Google Play, Roku and Amazon Fire TV. Those platforms and any third-party services or links within our Apps are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice (for example, in-app or by email). Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
